Posted in Home, Latest Posts | Tagged Understanding Islam Resources for GCSE Islam Posted on May 19, 2016 by The UK government has brought in changes for teaching Religious Studies at GCSE level, which take effect from September 2016 onwards. All candidates will be required to have studied two religions. These developments will place a considerable burden on teachers. To assist them in preparation and delivery of material, a new section has been added to the website: GCSE Religious Studies: Islam (see button above). The resources will comprise five sections. The first will relate to background material to help teachers gain a wider grasp of how Islam understands itself. The remaining four sections relate to the requirements for components on Islam under the syllabus headings: Beliefs and Teachings, Practices, Sources of wisdom and authority, and Forms of expression and ways of life. Each section is partially completed now, with further material to be added prior to September. Please inform any teachers that you know, or anyone interested, of the existence of this resource. It is free and all material can be downloaded as pdf files. I can supply the content but I rely on others to pass around the word by social media and through professional networks. Subscribe to the newsletter for updates as new material becomes available.
